Meta announced couple of months ago that it was working on bringing NFTs to its products. As the biggest web2 player, it wasn’t clear how Meta would incorporate web3 features. From their make-believe NFTs and 47.5% fees on digital items, crypto-natives see Meta’s moves as insincere.
They announced today that Instagram will let NFT collectors and creators display verified NFT collectibles starting this week. Facebook will be next. Let’s see how this will be received.

Jump has been trying to buy Wormhole.com from a 79-year-old Dick Merryman for more than a year. Merryman owned the website since 1994, but Jump ended up buying it from him.
Vice president at Google Cloud Amit Zavery wrote, “While the world is still early in its embrace of Web3, it is a market that is already demonstrating tremendous potential with many customers asking us to increase our support for Web3 and Crypto related technologies” in an email last week. Cloud is forming a web3 team and we are seeing a Google more sympathetic to web3 compared to social media companies. Google President of Commerce Bill Ready told Bloomberg, “Crypto is something we pay a lot of attention to. As user demand and merchant demand evolves, we’ll evolve with it.”
Vitalik says Layer 2 fees “needs to get under $0.05 to be truly acceptable.”
California Governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order similar to the one Biden signed in March, directing state agencies to examine cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies, and recommend best ways to incorporate those into businesses.
Zora raised $50 million at $600 million valuation led by Coinbase Ventures, Kindred Ventures and others.
