This weekend was all about Otherdeed. Everybody rushing to mint Otherdeed NFTs skyrocketed gas fees, and burned 55,843 Ether ($157 million.) As suspected, mint was for land sales for “Otherside,” the gamified, interoperable metaverse that will be the place for NFT projects to build their digital worlds and come together. Some of the deeds also came with Kodas, the hottest NFT around. Kodas have a whole backstory, but check that out for yourself. :) Defiant’s videos on the Otherside are 👌

I can’t wait for college courses and research papers based on hype sales in crypto. You can go to sleep, wake up, and a complete new frenzie happened and ended before you even notice. Well, I’m sure most people felt that way about 3 and 4-digit ENS domain names. ENS generated $1.3 million in sales in 24 hours. They minted out in one night, and people are going crazy because you can potentially use them with a subdomain (for example: punk.4565.eth) Fun trivia: 555.eth bought for 55.5 ETH.

Bored Ape prices are going craaayyzey. The cheapest one costs 146 ETH, or $416,000. After raising $450M in a round led by Andreessen Horowitz, Yuga Labs is valued at $4B.
Kevin Rose’s web3 initiative PROOF Collective (that is also behind Moonbirds) raised $10 million from the VC firm Seven Seven Six. People were asking… why? Especially after making so much money from Moonbirds sale.
A five-bedroom Spanish-style home in Beverly Hills is going up for sale for $9.418 million, and it comes with a duplicate home called the BH Meta House, available in Decentaland for an additional $100,000. If the buyer declines to pay for the Decentraland house, they’ll simply receive an NFT of the house (and the actual physical house, obv.)
Azuki Spirit DAO acquired Azuki #3140 for 245 ETH ($697k USD).
Wyre partnered with Chess.com to launch an NFT platform where users can play chess to win NFTs.
Canadian author and poet Margaret Atwood, most notably known for “The Handmaid’s Tale,” will be giving an online class titled “Practical Utopias: An Exploration of the Possible.” Students will imagine potential utopian societies, turn them into illustrations, and mint them as NFTs on the Tezos blockchain.
Solana NFT projects are gaining steam, with Okay Bears generating more volume than any other Ethereum project with $18M sales in one day.
Bankless founders Ryan and David joined Moonbirds as advisors. They are not the biggest NFT/pfp people, so this kinda says a lot.
Akutar refunded 863 ETH😰 to Akutar Pass Holders, who was supposed to get a return on their higher-than-final price bids in the Reverse Dutch Auction.

Decentraland had its first metaverse marathon in collaboration with Degree. I don’t know why but this is one of the most adorable things I’ve heard this week.

Web3 company focused on NFT games and WAX blockchain, WAX Studios, hired the creator of the game “Magic: The Gathering,” Richard Garfield, to develop a PVP game.
Axie Infinity started the final season of Axie Infinity: Classic.
Ronin published a post-mortem on the Ronin Bridge exploit.

Our Happy Company, founded by John Legend, raised $7.5 million in seed funding to continue developing the NFT music platform, OurSong.
⚽️ Sports
Ice Cube’s 3-on-3 basketball league BIG3 announced its plans to sell team ownership stakes via NFTs. Solana NFT project DeGods will purchase the top ownership stakes in one team, funds coming out of the project’s DeDAO treasury. DeGods holders will be offered access to lower-tier stakes.
F1 team Mercedes-AMG Petronas partnered with FTX to release NFTs in both 1000 free and premium formats.
NFL has released Draft-themed NFT collectibles minted on Flow. Each of the 32 teams in the league is offering 52 NFTs, each for $52. NFTs are not tickets themselves, but serve more as commemorative tickets.

Panama passed a law to regulate the trading and use of crypto-assets and also legally recognized DAOs. According to Congressman Gabriel Silva, it will help Panama “become a hub of innovation and technology in Latin America.”
The decentralized Twitter Bluesky project will be unaffected by Elon’s purchase of Twitter.
Central African Republic announced that it has adopted Bitcoin as legal tender.
America’s largest provider of 401(k) savings accounts, Fidelity Investments, will allow investors and companies to diversify their 401(k) savings accounts by adding a Bitcoin option.
MoonPay is building HyperMint, a new venture self-titled “the Amazon Web Service of NFTs.”
NYC mayor Eric Adams said during the Financial Times Crypto and Digital Assets Summit, “The most important thing is to listen to those within the industry, because this is relatively new and sometimes we are fearful when it comes to new technologies, particularly something like cryptocurrency and blockchain.”
Telegram users can send crypto using the messaging app.
