We have seen updates and new features from various marketplaces over the last couple of weeks. Last week Async Art released a new tool, Rarible introduced a new protocol and a set of tools to simplify the go-to-market process for NFT projects. This week, SuperRare dropped its 2.0 version and $RARE token, and Foundation now has private sales. Trend alert: decentralizing governance via a native platform token.
Twitter chooses Jay Graber, the former Zcash developer, to lead the decentralized social network project that has been in discussion for a while. Bluesky aims to “develop an open and decentralized standard for social media.” In his tweet, Jack Dorsey said it’s another step towards “decentralizing Twitter and social media.”
🎨 NFTs
OpenSea hit $1 billion in trading volume in August so far. Google Search Volume for OpenSea is at its highest point. While we’re here: you can also use $BNT, the token of Bancor, to buy & sell on Opensea now.
Art project generativemasks launched last week. The project uses p5.js to generate mask graphics from 10,000 unique shapes and patterns.
SuperRare launched its 2.0 platform with SuperRare DAO, SuperRare Spaces (independent storefronts), customizable artist minting contracts, and the $RARE curation token. Token will be used to “shift ownership and curation of the network to the community.”
Speaking of marketplaces, SushiSwap is getting its own soon as well. 🍣

Generative artist Thomas Lin Pedersen is dropping a new ArtBlocks collection called Rapture on August 23rd. ArtBlocks collections are getting a lot of heat; the top 15 sales have all happened this month.

Degenerate Ape NFT project sells out in 8 minutes… Project made the $SOL token, the native token of the Solana blockchain, reach an all-time high of $63.33 since the project is built on Solana. 🦧
Rarible is gifting $RARI tokens to the projects that will be built on the Rarible Protocol. The program is called ‘App Mining,’ and it’s “designed to distribute ownership of the protocol to NFT application builders and users via the distribution of the DAO’s native governance token.”

NFTs in GTA… First NFT to be in any video game.
FFORMS, a project by untitledxyz_, is a collection of modular architecture made for the metaverse. Each NFT contains a 3D model designed for Decentraland. Items look pretty good, and they will have new drops every Friday.
The NFT project Sad Frog is taken down from Opensea due to the request of the creator of Pepe the Frog, Matt Furie. He got behind the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and told he is the ‘sole and exclusive owner’ of Pepe and Sad Frogs were infringing his copyright. 🐸

Audiogyphs is a 10,000 randomly generated, infinite audio NFTs derived from on-chain Pixelglyphs data. Each one synthesizes a unique, infinite stream of music directly in your browser.
Have you heard of Catalog? They launched 5 months ago, and since then, over 100 independent artists on their platform earned more than $300K. Artists release one of one digital records and earn %100 of the money spent on their music. Head to the website to check out the songs.
TikTok and Audius are partnering up to allow one-click sharing with the social network. This comes as big news as it is the first music integration TikTok has settled.
👾 NFT Games
Axie Infinity has its Esports server up and running, and 31 individual tournaments have been approved. Prizes total to 5,560 $AXS.
Yield Guild Games, which focuses on play-to-earn crypto games (i.e. Axie Infinity), raised $4.6 million in funding led by VC firm Andreessen Horowitz.
Vine co-founder Dom Hofmann teased a new video game NFT called Supdrive. It’s new because NFTs themselves serve as the games, not as access tokens or characters for a game.

🧬🧪SCIENCE NEWS🧪🧬 For the first time, a real-world biopharma research and IP was funded and transferred as an NFT via @Molecule_to, @Nevermined_io and @vita_dao. It was purchased for $325,000 and that money is going directly to fund the research and development.
The community writing platform Mirror is airdropping 302 $WRITE tokens amongst Mirror’s most active members.
Mayor Jayson Stewart of Cool Valley, Missouri, wants to give every resident up to $1,000 in Bitcoin. The town has 1,500 residents, and the catch is they won’t be able to sell it for a while.
Don’t sleep on Doge… It might have dropped quickly, even more quickly than BTC and ETH, but you never know when a meme can make a comeback. Doge community is still strong, even having a festival, as I’ve reported in last week’s issue. After Mark Cuban announced Mavericks merchandise bought using Dogecoin will enjoy a ‘special pricing,’ he said in an interview that, “the community for doge is the strongest when it comes to using it as a medium of exchange.” Elon jumps to the conversation and tweets, “I’ve been saying this for a while.” Result? Dogecoin jumped %8 last week, making it a jump of %66 in the last month.

Novi, Facebook’s crypto wallet project, is nearing launch, as Diem co-creator David Marcus announced.
The popular trading app Robinhood announced that 60% of its customers traded crypto in the last quarter, and crypto revenue added up to 41% of its total revenue. In that crypto revenue, 62% came from Dogecoin. They also plan to add more coins and tokens, and there have been discussions about having a wallet there as well.
