Welcome to the new subscribers of NFTimes. I’m so happy that you are here! I hope the long weekend treated you well. I was honored to give a class on Saturday on Ethics in Web3 & IP Rights at Istanbul University. It was my first time giving a class at a University and my first time doing an education session in Turkish! It was a blast, and I finally took two days of vacation after that!
I’m still in NYC after NFT NYC but had an out-of-NY experience for two days with an evening at the newly opened Gitano Island at Governors Island and a day trip to Catskill in upstate NYC. It has been a while since I’ve been here, so it was nice to see some nature! Highly recommend both.
ALSO CRAZY: I started NFTimes last year in July… and we are in JULY. I cannot believe that it has almost been a year of writing about NFTs every week. (I think I skipped 2 or 3 total in one year😅) As a one-woman show here, I’m proud of where we are and excited to keep learning and sharing during this bear market. Stick with Web3 loves, this is the time to stay and learn, so when the next bull market hits, you’ll be more prepared than everyone else.

Facebook began testing Ethereum and Polygon NFTs. Users will be able to connect their crypto wallets to their Facebook profiles.
Baller Ape Club is charged for an NFT “rug-pull” scheme, for allegedly collecting $2.6 million from NFT’s buyers before deleting the organization’s website and laundering the funds.
Chia has launched its first NFT standard on mainnet. Chia Network’s director Gene Hoffman suggested that the new platform would be more eco-friendly compared to Ethereum and more stable than Solana.
Doodles bucket auction saw 6,528 total bidders and 4,446 successful bids, volume up to a total of 11,975.42 ETH.
The University of Oregon is using NFTs to support women athletes. Division Street, a sports venture company that works to maximize revenue opportunities for University of Oregon student-athletes, announced the launch of the “Visions of Flight” NFT collection.

El Salvador President Nayib Bukele added another 80 BTC to his country’s existing 2,301 BTC, undeterred by the losses of around $60.2 million occurred when Bitcoin fell to $19,000 this week.
Coinbase has denied a report that the company is selling customer data to US Federal Agencies. “Coinbase Tracer sources its information from public sources, and does not make use of Coinbase user data. Ever,” the company said.
